Do you own a dress that you really really love? Perhaps it’s your wedding dress or a dress you went somewhere very special in? I do and just the very thought of it makes me very happy! What makes me very unhappy is that some girls in the world will never have the opportunity to own a dress!
However, there is a lovely charity in America called ‘Dress a Girl Around the World’ and it now has a UK arm! So far the UK arm has produced over 3000 dresses and I would really like to add to this total!
So, we are holding a dress sewing day and need a few things and as many pairs of hands as possible! This my friends is where you come in I need:
· Sewers of all abilities (I at least am hoping to also learn some new sewing skills) – if you’ve never sewn before come along and have a go and if sewing isn’t your bag you can help in other ways (crèche volunteers, cup of tea makers, dress embellishment makers, Ironers etc etc). If you have sewing skills then excellent fantastic and amazing J
· Fabric that will make lovely dresses – this could be fabric you have lying around, old pillow slips (must not be see through) or a garment that can be up cycled.
· Bias Binding / ribbon
· Sewing Machines (to lend)
· Embellishment materials – I’m thinking buttons, beads, cross stitched designs
